Run The Day is a comprehensive race hosting platform designed for race directors and fitness athletes to organize, manage, and promote races. Available on both mobile and web, it allows participants to register, donate, and access race details. Key features include an admin panel for managing races, displaying schedules and scores, generating reports, and providing certifications.

The platform supports seamless registration, team management, and payment collection and offers integration with social media for promotion. Additionally, it simplifies volunteer coordination and offers detailed analytics and support.

The Challenges

Initially, race directors used Run the Day to schedule fundraising races. The platform was managed by three parties: ESEO handled instant race registrations, another managed race score displays, and RTD oversaw overall operations. ESEO, with over 20 years in the industry, also supported charitable causes. The website had over 80,000 users' significant traffic, but its PHP base made it slow and cumbersome. The main challenge was to maintain brand reputation, user experience, responsiveness, interactivity, and functionality without compromising performance.

The Solution

We aimed to develop a fast, user-friendly, interactive platform to reduce dependency on different systems for hosting races. We revamped the Run the Day app to improve its speed and performance and handle high traffic. We chose Flutter for the mobile version and updated the web version using Next.js and Node.js. This approach enhances user experience, responsiveness, and overall functionality

The Strategy

To maintain the brand identity and essence of ESEO, we integrated its core features into Run The Day while adding updates with a modern tech stack. We addressed the main challenges of managing user traffic, enhancing user experience, and improving speed. This strategy ensured that we kept the valuable aspects of ESEO and improved the platform with new technology to build a standalone interface.

We focused on a simple, minimalist, user-friendly design with easy navigation. We created a clear wireframe to layout features and accessibility. The color palette, typography, and fonts align with the platform's feel and attract participants. We used reusable components, cards, and icons to highlight key features. The user journey is streamlined into three clicks: insert race details, collect payments and participant information, and execute the event.
